I was born in New York City and lived and worked there most of my life. I worked as a freelance illustrator for 35 years in the publishing and advertising business. I painted book covers for Dell, Bantam , Scholastic Books, Jove, MacGraw Hill, and others. I had assignments for J.Walter Thompson, Doyle Dane & Bernbach, Oglevy & Mather and many other ad agencies. I rendered art for Audi, Tropicana, Eli Lilly, Eastern Airlines and many others. I did a promotional poster for
the movie” European Vacation” as well as five commemorial stamps for the US Post Office.
Did a few Big Band music album cover’s and a Sammy Davis Jr. Album cover.
I spent four years in the US Navy and upon discharge went to work for various art studio’s.
In New York. at age 28 I began freelancing full time while going to The School Of Visual Art’s
evenings for ten years. At the age of 42, I enrolled in The Art Students League full time, and
worked evenings. I studied with painter/illustrator Robert Schultz there.
I retired at age 67 and started painting. Studied with Attila Hajji another painter/illustrator
at the Stevenson Academy and started showing my work at The Sunflower Gallery in Garden City.
I gravitate toward painting people and animals. I am an artist schooled in realism and paint
things I see around me in everyday life.
